In order to prepare Singaporeans for the coming wave of change, National Library Board is holding a series of talk themed “The Future of Work”.
For this series, App Igniter will be delivering the talks on Augmented Reality (AR).
Since we are in the beginning of the fourth industrial revolution, it is important to understand some of technological shifts happening right now. As with every industrial revolution that has happened before, each one brought disruptions to the workforce. Simply put, there will be job displacements. Some jobs are getting obsolete but on the other hand, new jobs are being created.
In the landscape of immersive technology, AR is gaining traction. Especially in areas where contextual spatial information is crucial. In essence, any job dealing with physical objects or areas can greatly benefited through the use of AR.
But AR is potentially capable of so much more than that. We predicted that AR is gonna be the future of computer interface. Think of it as replacements for desktops, laptops and mobile devices.
Understanding the strength and limitation of AR may help you in your upcoming projects at work.
